Mustard MTB

At Mustard we love all kinds of cycling, but our real passion is mountain biking. Dust, mud, rocks, roots, if we’re getting dirty we’re happy. So when it came to designing our range of bikes the mountain bike was always going to turn into a real labour of love. It also meant it might take a little longer than the other bikes….!

We are in the process of designing not one but two Mustard mountain bike frames:

One will be a 29er based around a 120mm fork. Light enough to ride all day and with the angles and attitude to be fast over any terrain. A bike to have adventures on.

The other will be a 27.5er with up to 140mm travel out front. This will be sprightly enough to deal with any climb but with its eyes firmly on the prize that waits at the top. Long and slack with a short stem, low BB and short stays. A winch-and-plummet kind of bike for messing around in the woods and testing your skills.

As with all our bikes, both models will be offered in both steel and titanium. 44mm headtubes, good tyre clearance and routing for stealth dropper posts will be standard on both models.

Some of you may have seen these shots of our first prototype of the 27.5er at the Bespoked Bike Show in Bristol last year. We were pleased with that first version but there were a couple of changes we wanted to make, not least incorporating a Boost 148mm back end. We are working with our frame builder on these revisions and hope to have prototype 2 very soon.
